Algae as a Bio-Fuel - a step in the right direction

Fossil fuel acquisition, production and consumption are all quite dangerous to our environment.  In recent years Bio-Fuels have gained popularity, but have also created competing demands with food resourcing.  The price of corn increased as the demand for Bio-Fuels from processing corn gained greater popularity.  Also the energy gained from Bio-Fuel via corn was not that beneficial from both a financial and environmental perspective.  Corn based Bio-Fuel production was more-or-less a knee jerk reaction by the oil companies to show the public that they were doing something to solve the environmental as well as political issues attached to fossil fuels.  This is where Algae has proven to be a better solution.  An acre of production can produce up to 30 times the energy as compared with other biofuel produced from crops.  Also the hazard posed from an accidental spill from algae would be minor.  The US department of energy has estimated that 15,000 square miles would be required to produce enough fuel from algae to replace petroleum fuel used in the US.  Arizona and New Mexico, perfect environments for Algae Bio-Fuel production could easily handle the task.  Looks like we could have a solution.  Let's hope President Obama is paying attention to this solution and Hopefully Oil companies are buying up the cheap land in Arizona to start setting up shop to produce Algae.

Biofuel production drives

Biofuel production drives food crisis in many countries. it's although a source of pollution according to recent research (google it some days).

Hi just noticed your

Hi just noticed your Anonymous post...and you are correct, but you don't seem to know what Algae is. People do not eat it....and it is produced in virtually inhabited parts of the planet. So if your argument is Bio-Fuels that are produced from food sources is bad, then you should like the idea that people should produce bio-fuel from Algae since people don't eat it (unless you consider sushi) and it is produced in places that they don't produce any other food since the hotter places are better. Hope it is clear now. I did like your snide comment "(google it some days)" as it probably shows that you can only detract....unless I have challenged you sufficiently to get you to reveal yourself and get you to share some ideas. The other thing is that living on this planet is bad for the planet(I am not encouraging you to commit suicide.. please stay very much alive). We first need to take steps to reduce the damage we are doing. Fossils fuels are far worse. Also I encourage you to take public transport or a bicycle whenever possible.
