Eliminate Paper Recipts
Think of all of the wasted paper from receipts, sometimes you buy just on product you get a "mile" long receipt. The wasted paper is one, but the inks and heat paper chemicals must not be to great for the planet one bit.
To solve this, offer “E-receipts”, the customer upon ending of the transaction is asked for their email address and the receipt is sent directly to them.
Laziness of most people will just take the normal paper receipt instead of typing in or telling the cashier their email address, but if you offer a incentive such as 5% or 10% off your purchase total purchase, or in stop & shop’s case more points savings.
Eliminates paper waste
Creates an electronic copy, unless deleted it is very hard to loose on the way home from the store.

Well, in both cases, customers might not be willing to share the email ID / mobile number. This has to be cultivated slowly! Overall its a very good idea!
I am happy to say that this

This would enable stores to send an sms message or email upon exit of the store with purchase information, purchase history and even electronic gift card information.
