Green Steel Production
A known fact is that 5-15% of all CO2 emissions in developing nations comes from antiquated steel production technology. The issue here is how to get steel companies to upgrade their equipment and production methodologies. The Answer is simple and the answer will not only make steel companies happy but environmentalists jump for joy. Put a cap on all imports and exports of wood based products specifically for home and building construction. Furthermore give special duties waivers for companies that produce within continually improving standards by upgrading their manufacturing techniques. Granted the CO2 emissions will increase with more production, but the amount of timber that will be in the environment to absorb the CO2 will be there to balance and eventually counter the effect. This plan though a simple idea will take global commitment. This will also create more jobs that could be considered to be green if spun the right way and executed with the goal of being green. This would also revitalize the Steel industry.
