Technological Waste - The Search Engine

I had read that two searches (14g of CO2) on a serach engine was the same as boiling water in a kettle (15g of CO2).  That is alarming since there are more searches performed every day than there are people boiling water on a kettle.  The reason for this is that a serach engine will do a look-up on multiple servers simultaneously to get the best indexed results.  A solution and potential money winner for any company would be to figure out a better and greener tech for doing internet searches.  The company that could discover and implement would be king of search.

This is very interesting! I've heard of this as well, but I don't have any resorces of this information that can prove it's true.
