Think before you print - save energy and paper

It was in the first half of the seventeenth century that a Marathi Saint, Tukaram was inflicted with a punishment to immerse his abhangs (eulogy in praise of Lord Vithal) in the river Indrayani. Tukaram, the ascetic, without any grudges sacrificed and observed a fast for 15 days together. The miraculous appearance of the bhujputras on the surface of the waters on the fifteenth day corroborated Saint Tukaram’s devotion.

The question arises how much of what we put down is worthwhile! Does it really matter if we don’t scribble at all ?

Printing is absolutely necessary for modern day exchange, unfortunately a lot of waste is generated. Now a printer is a mechanical device which uses paper for its final output. A fleeting glance on the usage of paper makes us stagger. Printing eats up about 600,000 sheets of paper per year. Paper is made by cutting down trees ruthlessly.

We are screwing up the environment. ‘The Green House Effect’ comes into picture. Besides the manufacturing process itself, the ink cartridges used in any printer cause carbon emission polluting the earth’s atmosphere. It is common wisdom that disposal of any IT device causes environmental hazards. Consequently and much to the human dismay, the entire Ecosystem goes topsy-turvy.

The dire consequences of the indiscriminate felling of innumerable trees are imminent and gruesome like Damocle’s sword! The untold miseries that the environment has already been subjected to are escalating and a cold disregard can cause an absolute eradication of human civilization.

I am always on the lookout

I am always on the lookout for alternative methods in waste and other green products. What I have recently found is a use for industrial waste, on my trip to Lima Peru. What I discovered is that they can recycle a waste product from the copper wire industry. They can take what the industry calls copper mud / copper oxide and recycle into other products. Thus eliminating this copper mud/copper oxide as an industrial hazard into a viable product. I would like you to help me find these businesses, that produce copper products and inform them of this. This is just one less hazardous going into a landfill that doesn’t need to. I can arrange the contact and get the ball rolling once we locate these businesses. I am sure there are a lot of them unaware of this and can benefit all of us.

Good idea. You always have

Good idea. You always have to provide monetary incentives for businesses to change. If they can profit from the waste products, they will.
